Carroll Concrete Company and Newport Sand & Gravel Co., Inc., is a closely held business originally incorporated in New Hampshire in 1959 as the Eaton Jones Sand and Gravel Co., Inc. The name was changed in 1973, when it was acquired by Shaun P. Carroll. At that time, the operation consisted of a single sand and gravel crushing plant in Newport, New Hampshire.

In 1979, the Company entered the ready mix business with the acquisition of a batch plant and three ready mix trucks that were set up at the Newport sand and gravel pit. Acquisition and opening of other locations and operations followed:

  • 1986 – Open Ready Mix Plant Bristol, NH
  • 1987 – Open Ready Mix Plant W. Lebanon, NH
  • 1995 – Acquire Calkins Ready Mix, with four ready mix locations: Coventry, VT St. Johnsbury, VT Guildhall, VT Woodsville, NH And one sand and gravel crushing plant at Guildhall, VT
  • 1997 – Acquire Tilcon/Arthur Whitcomb’s Ready Mix operations, with six locations: Lebanon, NH Keene, NH Peterborough, NH Charlestown, NH Randolph, VT Bradford, VT
  • 1997 – Acquire Lane Construction’s Ready Mix plant, Brattleboro, VT
  • 2000 – Start Construction Supply Division Newport, NH
  • 2001 – Acquire A.G. Anderson’s Ready Mix Operations with three locations: Barre, VT Johnson, VT Swanton, VT And one sand plant in Highgate, VT
  • 2001 – Acquire A.G. Anderson’s Commercial Concrete Contracting Business Barre, VT
  • 2001 – Acquire Dealership from Redi Rock, International-retaining wall system Division becomes Redi Rock Walls of New England
  • 2002 – Open additional Construction Supply Office West Lebanon, NH
  • 2002 – Acquire New England Laser & Transit Co. Move operation to Newport, NH
  • 2005 – Start Concrete Pumping Division W. Lebanon, NH & Barre, VT
  • 2005 – Start Equipment Rental Division Newport, NH
  • 2005 – Open additional Construction Supply Office
  • 2005 – Acquire R&J Industrial Floors to enhance Repair & Decorative Division Barre, VT
  • 2007 – Become Authorized Producer/Distributor for Rosetta Hardscapes
  • 2008 – Sell New England Laser
  • 2008 – Become authorized Distributor for Nudura ICF’s
  • 2008 – Sell Construction Division to RG Gosselin Inc
  • 2009 – Become authorized Producer/Distributor for REDI-SCAPES
